The first of many events begins tomorrow in Legends of Aria from Citadel Studios. This will last from February 15th until February 17th. To celebrate, the game will be on sale for 19.99 through the weekend. During this event, called ‘Relics of the Ancients', players will be challenged to decipher clues concerning ever-changing hotspots throughout the game world. The hotspot action takes place in both the guarded zone and in the wilderness. Enemies in these areas can drop their normal loot, as well as some extra goodies. It is worth noting that Wilderness critters have the best loot to offer. [...]

In a collaboration with Academy Award-nominated director Neill Blomkamp, BioWare released Anthem Conviction this morning, a live-action short film that reads better as a live-action trailer. Click here to watch embedded media The YouTube video's description says that Anthem Conviction is set "decades before the events of the game." However, the video doesn't offer much in the way of a story, but it features some cool special effects, produced by Blomkamp's Oats Studios. According to EA, Blomkamp, who directed films like District 9, Elysium, and Chappie, founded the studio in 2017 as a platform to practice creating visual effects and to create [...]

In the United States, the average red building brick used in construction is (approximately) 7.5 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 2.25 inches thick. The first generation of Nintendo's Game Boy portable entertainment device was (approximately) 5.75 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 1.25 inches thick. So if you ever hear someone say that the old Gameboys were the size of a brick, they're not far off. With all that size, they couldn't store a game. They didn't even hold a saved game. That was all done with the cartridge. They didn't have wi-fi (though you could connect two Game [...]

While Hollow Knight got loads of free DLC, Team Cherry had been working throughout development on a larger expansion of paid DLC starring Hollow Knight's Hornet. A few days ago, the developers indicated there would be news on the DLC expansion on Valentine's Day, which most assumed to be a release date or new trailer. Instead, Team Cherry announced that the DLC has expanded massively in scope and will instead be a full blown sequel to Hollow Knight. Dubbed Hollow Knight: Silksong, the new game features a new world, 150 new enemies, a new town, new bosses, and new quests. You [...]

Magic: The Gathering Arena released a new update today, which added a few new features, such as “Resolve All”, and the ability to challenge friends through Discord. But the biggest change has to be to the card Nexus of Fate. While it hasn't been making waves at major tournaments (despite Turbofog coming back to life thanks in part to Nexus), it is an incredibly frustrating card. This is not an issue in tabletop play per se', because there are rules in place for looping, and you don't have to wait for the game engine, or for the other player to [...]

Ask any Zelda fan which Zelda game is the “darkest” and they'll immediately tell you Majora's Mask. It's an obvious choice, of course, and a seemingly correct one. Majora's Mask is a game about a world drenched in shadows, centered on an increasingly paranoid town full of obtuse characters, all dealing with the oncoming apocalypse in their own ways. Warbled, strange, music drifts in the background and a gigantic, nightmarish moon slowly descends over the land, threatening to obliterate everything in it. Even the box art itself is dark, ditching the usual triumphant gold foil or heroic Link pose in [...]

Dead Cells is great, but last year's action rogue-like received a wave of criticism for its performance on the Nintendo Switch. A recent update claims to have fixed those problems and added several great new features. The patch released today for all consoles and includes a new game mode that allows players to customize their runs. For example, players now have the ability to unlock and re-lock items, enable special gameplay adjustments, and change other rules of play. Another bonus is that Motion Twin has removed Dead Cell's “mob auto-scaling” mechanic so each level now has a fixed difficulty. The amount of [...]
