Lego has announced an AR app for their playsets that allows players to hunt for ghosts. Well, not real ghosts, Lego ghosts, which I assume are built as ghosts and aren't Lego men who died. The app works in conjunction with several "haunted" Lego sets and lets players scan over the set with their phones camera to find the ghosts hidden in their Lego sets. You do more than just find and exorcise ghosts, you can work through puzzles and solve mysteries. Presumably there's no ill effects to not catching all the ghosts, but if the walls start bleeding or books [...]

Editor's Note: Because Crackdown 3's single and multiplayer modes are so different, and because the multiplayer was barely available ahead of time, we're reviewing them separately. This review covers my thoughts on the single-player campaign; check back soon for my take on the Wrecking Zone PvP mode. Like a B action movie, Crackdown 3 is solely concerned with trying to deliver a hamfisted, high-octane, kaleidoscopically techno explosion-fest. And just like all but the best B action movies, it's not stylish or substantial enough to pull it off. Outside of a few decent bosses, most of the eight to 10-hour campaign is [...]

Crackdown 3 is out tomorrow, and reviews are starting to hit online. Ours won't be among them, however, since I haven't had the opportunity to play the game's Wrecking Zone multiplayer on live servers. That's not to say I haven't formed an opinion on what I have played of the campaign mode. First, the good news: Controlling the Agent is great, and it captures a large part of what made the original game so enjoyable. I've had a lot of fun completing various parkour challenges and collecting the orbs scattered throughout New Providence. Unfortunately, the rest of the campaign hews far too [...]

I liked the ending to Far Cry 5. There, I said it. (Spoilers for the ending of Far Cry 5 ahead, though the existence of this game probably already ruined that for you.) It may be an unpopular opinion, but I appreciated that, for once, we didn't vanquish the bad guy, save the day, and walk off into the sunset. Joseph Seed kind of won. So I'm a little bummed that the very silly developments of Far Cry: New Dawn walk back a lot of that bleak, dark finale. That said, the very familiar Far Cry gameplay formula is just [...]

God of War dominated at this year's 22nd annual DICE Awards, held by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences tonight in Las Vegas. God of War not only received the coveted Game of the Year award, it went home with a whopping nine awards out of 23 categories, including Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, Game Design, Story, Original Music Composition and more. In comparison, 2018's Game of the Year, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, took home four awards. The only other multi-award winner this year was the indie-darling Celeste, which went home with the Outstanding Achievement for an [...]

With Weekly Shonen Jump hitting its 50 year anniversary last year, Jump Force is meant to be a celebration of the many legendary anime and manga series born from its pages. And to its credit, this anime/manga mashup fighting game certainly looks the part on the surface, with flashy combat and a roster of 40 characters hailing from 16 different series, portrayed with a unique aesthetic that takes popular characters and places them into the real world. Unfortunately, Jump Force falters at just about every other point. Its weak story mode does practically nothing with its stacked roster, an all [...]

Nintendo's first Direct of 2019 opened and closed with two previously unannounced first party games — Super Mario Maker 2 and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Both are Switch exclusives set for a 2019 launch, and yet, as terrible as it is to be ungrateful for what we did get, it's easy to slip into the “why didn't they show X?” state of mind. And while many of the already announced 2019 exclusives didn't receive a spotlight at this Direct, it's not really a cause for concern. In fact, Nintendo holding back some of its heavy hitters [...]

For those who want to spend a bit more time in Kyrat than Far Cry 4 offers on its own comes the $30 season pass, which offers a handful of new missions and an additional player vs player gameplay mode. At launch, those who've purchased the season pass will receive exclusive access to The Syringe, a mission in which players must keep a potent drug from falling into the hands of warlord Pagan Min. Escape From Durgesh Prison, as its name suggests, sees players attempting to escape from one of Min's prisons, either solo or with a friend playing as series [...]
